In some cases, although it is extremely common for both identical twins to suffer from bipolar disorder, it could be that only one has the syndrome. It turns out from studies that the parent of a bipolar person might not have suffered from the condition whereas all the kids suffered. From common sense, they must have got it from the parent, only it was recessive in them at that time. Unfortunately, the kids arent so lucky. Lithium carbonate is a medication that by itself would have helped not in curing, but in keeping bipolar disorder at bay. For ages, people have studied strains of the bipolar disorder syndrome to some success, and also to some failure. In 1650, scientist Richard Burton wrote and published “The Anatomy of Melancholia,” detailing the condition of depression. Some work he had to have done at that time; even in modern day the book still finds use in mental health applications.
